It is easy to demo an AI feature and hard to ship one users trust. The gap between the two is reliability, and reliability is a design problem as much as a model problem. Here is how we close it.
Reliable beats clever
A narrow AI feature that works every time builds more trust than an ambitious one that fails in front of users. We scope each feature to where the model is genuinely dependable, then expand only once it has earned it. Users forgive a tool that does less; they abandon one that is confidently wrong.
Design for failure, not just success
Every AI feature will hit inputs it cannot handle. The question is what happens next. We build for that moment from the start:
- Guardrails that keep the model inside its job and refuse out-of-scope requests gracefully.
- Fallbacks to a deterministic path or a human when confidence is low.
- Clear, honest UI that signals uncertainty instead of hiding it.
- Easy correction, so a wrong answer is a quick fix, not a dead end.
Evaluate before you ship
We build an evaluation set of real examples and measure against it before launch and after every change. Without evaluation, you are guessing whether a prompt tweak helped or quietly broke ten other cases. With it, you ship changes with evidence, the same way you would not deploy code without tests.
Respect user data
Trust is also about what happens to the data behind the feature. We minimize what gets sent to a model, are explicit about how sensitive information is handled, and choose providers that match your compliance needs. We would rather have that conversation before building than apologize for it after.
